Treatment

Treatment for cancer can be quite difficult to understand. The primary forms of treatment for cancer include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. These treatment forms can be used individually or together depending on the cancer type.

We hope that these pages help to provide basic information on the different treatments available for cancer. The James E. Cary Cancer Center with the Hannibal Regional Hospital Cancer Committee proudly utilizes the Clinical Practice Guidelines of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) for the treatment of cancer. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network is a not-for-profit alliance of 21 of the world’s leading cancer hospitals. Always remember, refer any questions regarding cancer treatments to your oncologist. For more information on treatment guidelines, go to www.nccn.org.

Working Together for the Community

The James E. Cary Cancer is a service of Hannibal Regional Hospital and the Hannibal Clinic. We work together to bring the most current treatments available to our community and to provide the highest level of care and compassion. We provide chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy and biotherapy. Additionally, we are committed to providing information and education to our community.

We’ve been providing cancer care in one location since March 2003. Initially named The Cancer Center, we are proof of organizations working together for the greater good. Hannibal Clinic had been providing contracted infusion/chemotherapy services for several years but patients were being sent to St. Louis or Columbia for radiation therapy.

Quite simply, we are here for you. This is your cancer center.

Life. Light. Hope.

Life. Light. Hope.Three words can make such a difference. They offer a promise for the future and a focus on today.  At the James E. Cary Cancer Center, we understand the power of words.  Life, Light and Hope.  We are here, for you.

Our vision:
Caring for those touched by cancer.

Our mission:
Together, we will bring physical, mental and spiritual healing to lives touched by cancer.
